With Passage West Maritime Museum

Main Street, Passage West Visit the fascinating exhibition presenting the true birth place of Ireland’s steam ship industry. The first steam ship built in Ireland in 1815 was on the site of the Passage West Maritime Museum. In 1838 the PS SIRIUS departed Passage West under the command of local man Captain Richard Roberts and went on to cross the Atlantic to New York and become the first ship to do so entirely under steam.
